About me…

I teach art history (PhD, UC Berkeley) at a New England liberal arts college. When I started writing fiction during the onset of Covid, I soon discovered that whether I’m teaching or reading or telling a story, I think about the present—and the future—through the past.

As a lesbian of color who turned into an academic, writing fiction, and especially contemporary fiction where queer/BIPOC live happily ever after, is a way to create a world that doesn’t (always) exist. It also helps me think about what is possible in the here and now: Generosity. Openness. Flirtation. Warmth. Intimacy. Relation. Making things. New genres of being!

When I’m not writing, I’m writing. But that doesn’t mean

I don’t have time for red wine, white cake, my feminist poker game, a good driving range, looking at art, and my two sweet cats.
